App Update: JobWatch v5.13

We have started the rollout of our latest version of JobWatch, version 5.13. This version is currently being pushed to customers who have tablets that are managed by BigChange and it is currently scheduled for release to the Android Store later this month.

The latest app release includes the new features detailed below. In order to enable the use of these new features, the new configuration has been made available within the back office of JobWatch.

Only those devices with 5.13 will be able to use the new functionality listed below.

Area We’re Addressing

Customers would like the ability to:

  • Display a file to a resource when on a job and record the fact that the file has been viewed.
  • Display site-specific files for jobs.
  • Display a file at preset intervals for jobs which are regularly completed.

What’s New

  1. A new Worksheet question type ‘view file’ has been added, to link to files which are stored in the File Library.
  2. Visibility options allow you to determine when and how often the file will be viewed, eg. view every x days, first time, before/after a specific date.
  3. A new section against contacts allows you to upload a contact-specific version of a file.

File Library Update

Customers are unable to store historic versions of files, meaning that they can’t be referred to at a future date. There is also no simple method of adding multiple resource groups to a file.

What’s New

Previous versions of files can now be stored, along with information such as file size, who uploaded it and the ability to rename the file once it has been uploaded.

In addition, we have introduced the ‘smart search’ list to make it easier to choose to display a file only to specific resource groups or global application.

Users of the device might not know when they receive an update to a job or update to a file in the file library.

What’s New

A blue number will appear next to the file library and jobs buttons on the left-hand menu to advise you of changes, regardless of the display you are currently viewing. Messages indicate the trigger.

You have the option to filter to ‘show only new or updated’ by ticking the checkbox at the top of the display.  To dismiss the red notifications, click on the ‘Mark all as viewed‘ button on the right-hand menu.

Area We’re Addressing

When sending a message or answering a worksheet question, the number of characters remaining is not displayed, making it hard for users to know if there is a limit.

What’s New

A character count is now shown when messaging or answering worksheet questions.
